The cast and producers of "The Walking Dead" share their insights into the final eight episodes of Season 4 in the latest trailer.
"People have been spun into orbit; everybody's separated," says Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes. "And it's a terrifying world we inhabit again."
Rick and the group are reeling from the loss of their prison home in the upcoming eight episodes. No one is sure of anyone else's fate, but everyone is exposed to new dangers as they try desperately to find each other.
"We'll see these characters change a great deal from where they started," showrunner Scott Gimple says in the trailer.
Adds Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl, "I don't think any of these characters are the same from when we first started. All of us have become so hard now."
The trailer shows most of the prison bunch on foot, trying to keep one step ahead of the walkers. But as fans of the show already know, that never happens. Daryl, Michonne, Tyreese, Beth and Maggie all are seen fighting the zombies.
All the characters battle their own fears about what they witnessed in the midseason finale, including the death of Herschel.
"Being right next to Hershel when that happened, it really is a question of what is the damage going to do Michonne," says Danai Gurira. "What is she going to do to process that loss? It is very tricky for her to find peace considering all the destruction that's happened."
Lincoln says the second half of the season will be much darker than anything before it. "We're jumping off the cliff in this back eight," he says.
Are you ready to jump with them? "The Walking Dead" returns at 8 p.m. Feb. 9 on AMC.
