A teaser for Season 2 of "Vikings" caused a stir when History Channel screened it at San Diego Comic-Con in July, and it still has fans riled up.

The teaser shows the army of the series' main character, Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), battling the forces of his brother, Rollo (Clive Standen). Fans will remember that as Season 1 ended, Rollo decided to turn against Ragnar in a bid for glory of his own. He sided with Jarl Borg, the leader of another group of vikings.

It looks like S2 will extend the brothers' conflict, and there is going to be collateral damage. As we see in the teaser below, Rollo attacks Floki (Gustaf Skarsgärd), Ragnar's best friend and ally.

"It ends with a shot of Floki seemingly getting the shit beat out of him by Rollo," Skarsgärd said during roundtable interviews at SDCC, which you can see in the clip above. "It's not looking good."

Fans love the eccentric ship builder and warrior, as does the show's creator and writer Michael Hirst. He said in a separate roundtable interview at SDCC that Floki is his favorite character to write.

But, Hirst added, "sometimes you have to kill the thing you love."

The clip could be a deception and Floki is just badly injured. But Skarsgärd wasn't going to tell reporters how long he'd be around in Season 2, which the cast is filming now. The new season will begin in early 2014 on History.

"I'm in the first episode, I guarantee that," he said, adding that all the actors read their scripts with a bit of trepidation.

"It's like unwrapping gifts at Christmas, but there could also be a bomb in there," he said. "Whenever you read a script you're like, 'OK am I gonna die in this episode? What's going to happen?'

"It's scary to not know where a character's going to go."

Let's hope Floki recovers from Rollo's beat-down, and isn't whisked from the battlefield to sit with Odin in Valhalla.
