TV, movie stars lining up for Wizard World Chicago 2013

Wizard World Chicago Comic Con is upping its game again this year, bringing Michael Shannon, Zachary Quinto, Norman Reedus, John Barrowman, WWE Superstar CM Punk and comic legend Stan Lee to the Aug. 8-11 convention in Rosemont.

Several of those names should be familiar to TV viewers. Chicago theater mainstay Shannon stars in HBO’s "Boardwalk Empire" and is currently on the big screen fighting Superman. He plays Zod in "Man of Steel." Former "American Horror Story" star Quinto has gone on to play Mr. Spock in two "Star Trek" movies.

Reedus stars as Daryl Dixon in AMC’s "The Walking Dead," but his yearly appearances at Wizard World seem to draw more fans of his "Boondock Saints" films. Barrowman, who played Capt. Jack Harkness in "Torchwood," recently appeared in CW’s "Arrow" as Malcolm Merlyn.

The four-day event also will reunite "Firefly" stars Alan Tudyk and Summer Glau. Other stars on the roster include Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns"), Wil Wheaton ("Star Trek: TNG"), Henry Winkler ("Happy Days," "Royal Pains"), Sarah Wayne Callies, Michael Rooker and Jon Bernthal of "The Walking Dead," Jon Heder ("Napoleon Dynamite") and Verne Troyer ("Austin Powers").

Other stars will sign autograph over the weekend, including actors Wil-Yun Lee ("Total Recall," "Die Another Day"), Allison Mack ("Smallville"), Michael Rosenbaum ("Smallville"), James and Oliver Phelps (Harry Potter), Denis O'Hare ("American Horror Story," "True Blood"), Morena Baccarin ("Homeland," "Stargate SG-1"), Jason David Frank ("Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers"), Tara Strong ("My Little Pony," "Fairly Oddparents"), Linda Blair ("The Exorcist") and Lou Ferrigno ("The Incredible Hulk," "The King of Queens").

Superstar comics creators scheduled to attend include Chris Claremont ("Uncanny X-Men," "Spider-Man"), Alan Davis ("Captain America," "Thor"), Esad Ribic ("Avengers vs. X-Men," "Wolverine"), Pasqual Ferry ("Gambit," "Hulk"), Harvey Tolibao ("Green Arrow," "Silver Surfer,"), Scott Snyder ("Batman," "Detective Comics"), Greg Capullo ("Spawn," "Haunt"), Kenneth Rocafort ("Superman," "Action Comics"), Neal Adams ("Batman," "Superman") and Phil Ortiz ("The Simpsons," "Muppet Babies").

WWE fans can line up to meet CM Punk as well as WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler, WWE Diva AJ Lee, WWE Hall of Famer Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns).

For some reason, former Chicago Bull Dennis Rodman will be there, too.

Wizard World Chicago Comic Con, the longest-running and highest-attended show on the Wizard World calendar, takes place Aug. 8-11 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. Show hours are 3-8 p.m. Aug. 8; noon-7 p.m. Aug. 9; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Aug. 10; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 11. The schedule includes celebrity Q&A's, comics-themed sessions, costume contest, movie screenings, evening parties and more.
