You wouldn't have guessed by its ratings, but ABC's cooking competition "The Taste" will be back for a second season, and the reality series is searching for pro and amateur cooks to compete in the new season.

"The Taste" will come to Chicago for a casting call from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at the Centered Chef, 177 N. Ada St. #101.

In "The Taste," culinary celebrities such as Anthony Bourdain and Nigella Lawson coach teams of four pro and amateur cooks as they vie to create the best-tasting dishes. In each episode, competitors face team and individual challenges with culinary themes through several elimination rounds.

At the end of each episode, mentors do a blind taste test of the competitors’ dishes. They don’t know whose creation they're sampling, what they're eating, how it was prepared or whom they could be eliminating.

Charlie Sheen's personal chef, Khristianne Uy, was crowned champion in Season 1 of "The Taste."

Potential applicants should sign up for open casting calls in their areas by visiting thetastecasting.com.
