When "The Vampire Diaries" premiered two seasons ago, I initially wrote it off as another angsty teen drama, just with vampires. But I checked back in later that season, and wow, was I blown away.

I went back and started the season over, and haven't stopped watching since.

So I'm thinking that although I wasn't thrilled with the pilot of "The Secret Circle," I'm going to give it some time to hook me. Like "TVD," it is based on a teen book series from L.J. Smith. And like "TVD," the show was created by Kevin Williamson.

Britt Robertson stars as Cassie Blake, a 16-year-old who moves from California to New Salem, Mass., after the death of her mother. And this being a supernatural tale, of course New Salem is full of witches—and few bitches, too.

And Gale Harold stars, so there's a reason to watch. Thomas Dekker, Phoebe Tonkin, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Shelly Hennig, Louis Hunter, Ashley Crow and Natasha Henstridge also star.

"The Secret Circle" premieres at 8 p.m. Sept. 15 on the CW, right after "The Vampire Diaires."
