His army will rise this summer in "The Strain," coming soon to FX.

There are two ways to look at the latest teaser for "The Strain," FX's upcoming horror series based on the books by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan.

Take it from the perspective of the humans living in New York, and all those body bags is not a good thing. But from the point of view of the vampires about to unleash hell on the city--hey, yay! As FX says, "His army will rise this summer."

But either way you lean, "The Strain" looks like it will give us some mighty good frights this summer.

"The Strain," whose ensemble cast includes Corey Stoll, Regina King, Mia Maestro and Sean Astin, will premiere on FX in July. The series is based on the bestselling vampire trilogy written by del Toro and Hogan. "Lost" alum Carlton Cuse is the writer/producer.

"The Strain" follows a CDC doctor's investigation into a viral outbreak somehow connected to an ancient strain of vampirism that creates more monstrous creatures than the TV vampires we're used to seeing.

Stoll ("House of Cards") will play Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, who with his CDC team and New Yorkers will fight the strain and vampires to save humanity.

Below is the "Candy Cane" teaser, which suggests the beasties like candy as well as blood. Check out the first-look photos in the gallery to the left.
