'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' final season to stream on Netflix

The Force will be with Netflix users in March.

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" fans can binge on the unaired sixth and final season of the animated series when it premieres on the streaming service March 7, Lucasfilm and Disney announced Thursday.

Following the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney, its new owners canceled "Clone Wars" after its Season 5 finale, despite Lucasfilm already having begun work on a sixth season. As part of the deal explained at starwars.com, all five seasons of "Clone Wars" that aired on Cartoon Network, with director's cut episodes and the feature film, will be available to stream.

"Clone Wars" focused on Jedi knights such as Anakin Skywalker (voiced by Matt Lanter), his young apprentice Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein) and his Jedi master, Obi-Wan Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor). It followed the "Star Wars" adventures that occurred between "Episode II—Attack of the Clones" and "Episode III—Revenge of the Sith."

The 13-episode final season, called "The Lost Missions," will reveal "some of the deepest mysteries of the conflict between the light and the dark sides of the Force," says the release. "An intrepid clone trooper discovers a shocking secret, Anakin Skywalker's closest relationship is tested to its limits, and what Master Yoda discovers while investigating the disappearance of a Jedi could forever change the balance of power in the galaxy."

This is the first time any "Star Wars" content has been available for Netflix streaming members and the deal follows a recent announcement from Netflix and The Walt Disney Company to create original series based on Marvel characters to the service in 2015.
