"Star Wars Rebels" introduces Zeb, the muscle on starship Ghost. "Rebels" premieres this fall on Disney and Disney XD.

"Star Wars Rebels" is adding a brand new alien species to the "Star Wars" universe.

Zeb is the latest character from the upcoming animated series to be introduced. He's a crew member of the starship Ghost, which will be at the center of the action in the series from Disney and Lucasfilm.

"It's just going to be exciting to develop him and his bizarre new species," says executive producer Dave Filoni in the latest video from Disney and Lucasfilm, "and to explain to the audience where he came from."

The video features concept art, clay sculptures and final renderings of the character, in addition to interviews from Filoni and creators of the character.

According to them, Zeb may look like a brute but is also a well-trained, highly educated honor guard on his home planet. He's an agile fighter who uses his acrobatics. He loves to beat up Stormtroopers, or bucket heads, as he calls them. He doesn't get along with everyone on the Ghost, including the droid Chopper and young crew member Ezra.

"He's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder, hates Chopper and is starting to build a relationship with Ezra, begrudgingly," says Steve Blum, who is voicing Zeb. He has voiced Wolverine in "Wolverine and the X-Men," and Spike Spiegel in "Cowboy Bebop."

Premiering with a one-hour special this fall on the Disney Channel before moving to Disney XD as a weekly series, "Rebels" will cover the action between big-screen films "Episode III--Revenge of the Sith" and "Episode IV--A New Hope."

Disney and Lucasfilm have been dropping teasers and introducing characters on a weekly basis to pump up the already huge interest in the series:

Meet Ezra, the young hero

Meet Kanan, a Jedi Knight survivor

Meet Chopper, the cranky droid

Meet The Inquisitor, Darth Vader's henchman
