With production on "Star Wars Rebels" in full swing, starwars.com Tuesday released a video introducing executive producer Greg Weisman, who offers a few tidbits about the series.
We already knew the series, which has a planned debut in Fall 2014, will be set between "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith" and "Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope."
In the video, Weisman confirms the series will take place closer to "Episode IV" on the timeline and its tone also will lean toward that of "A New Hope." The rebellion is not yet organized, Weisman says in the video, and the series will examine the formation of the Rebel Alliance over multiple seasons.
"We're going to show how the Rebel Alliance came to be," he says, "and that is tremendously exciting."
The video shows glimpses of the work Weisman's team is doing on "Rebels," with one tantalizing image revealing what might be the construction of a Death Star. Watch and let me know what you think.
Weisman also talks about his career and answers questions about his history as a "Star Wars" fan. He previously worked on the animated series "Gargoyles," "The Spectacular Spider-Man" and "Young Justice." On "Rebels," he's working with executive producer Dave Filoni, the supervising director of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," and screenwriter Simon Kinberg, who also is involved with the new live-action "Star Wars" films.
"Star Wars Rebels" is set to debut in the fall of 2014 on Disney Channel before moving to Disney XD.
