"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" supervising director Dave Filoni and head writer Matt Michnovetz shared two scenes from the upcoming fifth season with fans at the July 14 San Diego Comic Con panel.

The clips in the player above offer some tantalizing reveals, including the pairing of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Death Watch lieutenant Bo-Katan (voiced by Katee Sackhoff). Obi-Wan and Bo-Katan are with what appears to be a group of Mandalorian and/or Death Watch soldiers, but fighting another group of Mandalorians.

That clip also shows Darth Sidious, while the second clip shows Darth Maul and his baddie bro, Savage Opress, who we already know want Obi-Wan. Will they become a terrible trio searching the galaxy for Obi-Wan, or are the two Darths on a collision course of their own?

Probably not, if Filoni's comments at the panel are any indication: Sith Lords "can't get together and agree to share power. That's not in their nature," he said. But Darth Sidious will get into the action, as we see in the clip, and will appear as more than a hologram.

Filoni said George Lucas himself requested Darth Maul's Season 4 return, which Filoni found very difficult. But, he added, having the Night Sisters bring Maul back worked well and that he would be a big part of Season 5.

Cartoon Network and LucasFilm have yet to announce the premiere date for Season 5, but it will be sometime this fall. The Season 4 Blu-ray drops Oct. 23, but you can preorder now on Amazon. During the panel, Filoni and Michnovetz also shared exclusive 3D character turnarounds and early animation footage that will be featured on the disc. You can watch those in the video player above after the Season 5 scenes.
