"Spartacus: Vengeance," "The Vampire Diaries," "The Walking Dead" and "Game of Thrones" deliver the most deaths per episode on TV, according to a new study.

That's not too surprising considering the violent, scary worlds those shows explore. "Spartacus" tells the story of a rebellion against authority in ancient Rome, and includes battles both in the field and in the gladiator ring. So yes, death happens.

Funeralwise.com, a site that tells readers "everything you need to know about funerals," conducted the study that counted dead bodies on TV shows to measure the role of death in popular culture.

The site chose to analyze 40 TV series that "were judged to have content that regularly included the presence of dead bodies." The study was conducted during the first four months of 2012 and included eight recently aired episodes of each series. The 40 shows averaged 132 dead bodies in total during a single week.

Here's a breakdown of the study results, which, I feel, are a little flawed. "Revenge" has had more than a few deaths, for example, but obviously not in the eight episodes the study participants watched. "Game of Thrones" Season 2 began April 1, the last month of the study, therefore eight episodes weren't even available to study, unless participants went back to the last four of Season 1. Also, other shows, such as "Sons of Anarchy," I would say are more "deadly" than some that were chosen for the study. ("SOA" airs in the fall, so apparently it wasn't be included. Although several shows included only aired minimal episodes in the time frame of the study.)

The study also states that no funerals were depicted in the shows watched. "Spartacus" has included funerals, as has "Game of Thrones," but also apparently not within the time frame of the study. See what I mean? Flaws.

Anyway, here are some of the study's results.
