"Portlandia" fans get a special treat July 20 when IFC airs a new one-hour special, "Portlandia: The Brunch Special."
"Portlandia: The Brunch Special" takes fans behind-the-scenes into the making of the Season 2 finale, "Brunch Village" with a director's cut of the episode in which co-creators Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein star as beloved characters like feminist bookstore owners Toni and Candace, and eco-conscious Peter and Nance, as they patronize Portland's new brunch hotspot, Fisherman's Porch.
The episode also follows director Jonathan Krisel's quest to find the perfect marionberry pancakes, which "not only delayed production of the episode, it put the fate of the entire season in jeopardy." Kyle MacLachan narrates, while chef Bobby Flay and executive producer Lorne Michaels make guest appearances.
"Portlandia: The Brunch Special" premieres at 10 p.m. July 20 after new episodes of "Comedy Bang! Bang!" and "Bunk."
Fans get to decide what eight "Portlandia" episodes will air as part of the "Portlandia Mixtape Marathon" from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. July 20. Just go to the Portlandia Facebook page to vote for your favorite episodes. Fans who explain why they love their favorite episode may see their comments appear on air.
The third season of Portlandia returns to IFC with 10 new episodes in January 2013.
