Highs and lows from the Oscars

In a pre-taped video segment that served as a cold open to the 83rd annual Academy Awards on Sunday, first-time hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco took an "Inception"-inspired trip through the dreams of former host Alec Baldwin, which were actually clips from the 10 best picture nominees. The hosts were seamlessly inserted into actual film scenes and cracked wise, such as for "The King's Speech": "I have good news from the future, microphones get smaller," Hathaway said as she winked at King George VI (Colin Firth). For "True Grit," Franco said to Jeff Bridges, "I loved you in 'Tron.'" Sadly, it was their funniest scripted moment of the night. Check out these other highs and lows. Curt Wagner, Show Patrol
