A new promo for Season 2 of History Channel's "Vikings" features star Travis Fimmel and the Lorde song "Gore and Glory."
The clip premiered during Sunday's airing of the first part of "Bonnie & Clyde" on History, A&E and Lifetime. "Bonne & Clyde" concludes Monday night, but "Vikings" will return to History in February.
The clip mashes up the 217-year-old New Zealand singer's song "Gore and Glory," using select lines from the first verse and these perfect lines from the chorus:
"Oh-oh, you could try and take us,
Oh-oh, but we're the gladiators.
Oh-oh, you could try and take us,
Oh-oh, but victory's contagious."
Fimmel appears as his character, viking warrior and now leader Ragnar Lothbrok, who shares screen time with the ever-present crow Ragnar sees in the series. A flame burns from Ragnar's eye, while part of his bald head crumbles.
Roots grow out of his hands and entwine with the spear he is holding, which I hope doesn't mean Ragnar is giving up his key weapon, the ax, which happens to be Fimmel favorite weapon in the series.
"It's more Viking, yeah," he told me earlier this year. "We see swords in so many things now, it is great to have something different."
Season 2 of "Vikings" begins at 9 p.m. Feb. 27.
