'Gotham' trailer debuts on Fox

Fox debuted the first trailer for its upcoming series "Gotham" during the Monday premiere of "24: Live Another Day." "Gotham" will debut this fall.

Based on DC Comics characters, "Gotham" explores Gordon's early career before he became Gotham City's police commissioner and a big ally of Batman. According to the Warner Bros. release, the series also will explore the origins of many villains destined to become the Caped Crusader's foes.

Other previously announced cast members include David Mazouz as a young Bruce Wayne, Donal Logue as Det. Harvey Bullock, Zabryna Guevara as Capt. Essen, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, a ka The Penguin, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, the future Catwoman, and Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney.

"'Gotham' follows one cop's rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time," Fox said in a release.

Executive producer Bruno Heller wrote the pilot, which was directed and executive-produced by Emmy Award nominee Danny Cannon. John Stephens will serve as an executive producer on the series.
