'Game of Thrones' special will recap series, tease new season

The pay cable TV networks' battle for viewers will heat up Feb. 9 when HBO presents a "Game of Thrones" special.

"Game of Thrones Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing" will premiere at 7:45 p.m. that Sunday before a new episode of "True Detective" at 8 p.m.

Is HBO trying to draw viewers away from the midseason premiere of AMC's "The Walking Dead," which returns at 8 p.m. the same night?

Discuss.

"Game of Thrones Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing" recaps the series so far, and will preview the upcoming fourth season. HBO says it will include clips from upcoming episodes, behind-the-scenes-footage, interviews with cast members and producers. They also will answer fan questions.

"Game of Thrones" returns for its fourth season at 8 p.m. April 6 on HBO.
