Food Network is headed to Chicago in search of potential contestants for its culinary competition series "Food Network Star."
Casting directors will conduct an open casting call for Season 10 on Nov. 16 at the Westin Michigan Ave.
They're looking for people who have captivating personalities and are at the top of their culinary game. The winners, as fans know, go on to have their own Food Network cooking show.
Some past winners have strong Chicago ties. "Sandwich King" and "$24 in 24" host Jeff Mauro, originally from Elmwood Park, won the seventh season. Northwestern grad and former Chicago resident Aarti Sequeira won Season 6 and created her "Aarti Party" series. Lakeview restaurateurs the Hearty Boys, Dan Smith and Steve McDonagh, are now nationally recognized Food Network hosts after winning the first season in 2005.
Candidates need to bring two photos labeled with their names, a resume and a completed application found at Food Network's casting site online.
