American Horror Story

FX's "American Horror Story" earned 17 Emmy nominations Thursday. (July 19, 2012)

"Mad Men" and "American Horror Story" scored 17 Emmy nominations each Thursday, followed closely by "Downton Abbey" and "Hatfields & McCoys" with 16 each.

This year's Emmys host, Jimmy Kimmel, wore his pajamas and joined "Scandal" star Kerry Washington to announce nominations for the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards.

"Should I give a speech now?" cracked Kimmel, who received his first ever nomination as host of ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in the race for best variety, music, or comedy series.

Here is a partial list of the nominees. The complete list of Emmy nominations can be found at Emmys.com. The 64th annual awards will be presented Sept. 23 on ABC.
