'Doctor Who' anniversary screenings coming to Chicago

Chicago Whovians, you have the chance to the see "Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor" in theaters in 3D on Nov. 23.

BBC America today announced the locations for theatrical screenings of Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary special, which airs on the network Nov. 23. You can see it in theaters the same night and also on Nov. 25.

The Chicago-area screenings will take place at Century Evanston + XD in Evanston and at Cinemark at Seven Bridges + IMAX in Woodridge. Tickets will be available beginning at 8 a.m. Oct. 25 at fathomevents.com, cinemark.com and fandango.com, and at participating theater box offices.

Other cities having theatrical screenings are New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Seattle, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta and Minneapolis.

If you can't see the special on the big 3d screen on Nov. 23, you get another opportunity on Monday, Nov. 25, when the screening expands to more than 300 select cinemas. Tickets will be available at participating theater box offices and online at fathomevents.com. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit the NCM Fathom Events website.

The theatrical events will include specially shot introductions and "The Day of The Doctor: Behind The Lens," a 10 minute behind-the-scenes featurette that includes stars Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper and John Hurt, as well as lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat.
