"Dexter" begins its eighth and final season at 8 p.m. CT June 30 on Showtime.

Showtime on Friday released its official trailer for the eighth and final season of “Dexter,” finally revealing who his main foe will be—aside from himself.

Dr. Evelyn Vogel (Charlotte Rampling), a neuro-psychiatrist called in to help Miami Metro, seems to make Dexter (Michael C. Hall) a bit nervous. She’s an expert on all the things that make psychopaths tick.

“They have no empathy,” she and Dexter agree.

She seems to figure out Dexter from the get-go, challenging him to the point where he slams her up against a wall. That’s a pretty dumb move for a woman who doesn’t appear to be able to protect herself. A Showtime release suggests Vogel—well, it reads “a mysterious woman” so it could be someone else--offers first-hand information on Dexter’s past.

Dexter’s biggest worry, though, should be Deb (Jennifer Carpenter). She’s snorting, drinking and bedding everything or everyone within reach. It definitely appears she’s gone way off the rails after learning her brother is a serial killer and, you know, after that thing she did.

Speaking of that thing, the new season picks up six months after LaGuerta’s murder. You think Deb will rat out Dex? Will she get clean, or come clean about what she did?

“Dexter” returns at 8 p.m. CT June 30 on Showtime. The series also stars Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Aimee Garcia, David Zayas, Geoff Pierson and James Remar.
