'Community's' Danny Pudi now a video star
Chicago native Danny Pudi did a little moonlighting on his summer hiatus from the NBC sitcom "Community," acting in a video for his pals from the band Jones Street Station.
Abed would be proud. In "The Understanding" clip, Pudi walks the streets of New York with a mini-camera, snapping shots of people he sees until he meets the character played by Monica West. They go to her work, mixing the music of the New York band, and Pudi's character gets to play trumpet.
The video comes from filmmaker Adam Reid, and perfectly illustrates the song's theme of making new friends of strangers. By the way, Jones Street Station will be in Chicago Sept. 24 at the Double Door.
"Community" returns for its third season at 7 p.m. Sept. 22 on NBC. For those of you who haven't seen it (and shame on you, really), Pudi plays Abed, a film student and pop culture savant who wouldn't be nearly as smooth with the ladies as Pudi is in the video.
