NBC has ordered a full season of "Chicago Fire," an "action-driven drama exploring the complex and heroic men and women of the Chicago Fire Department."
The series pilot was filmed in Chicago and, according to an NBC rep, the series will continue to be filmed in the Windy City. From "Law & Order" creator Dick Wolf, the series stars Taylor Kinney ("The Vampire Diaries"), Jesse Spencer ("House"), Monica Raymund ("The Good Wife"), former Chicagoan David Eigenberg ("Sex and the City"), Eamonn Walker ("Kings"), Lauren German ("Hawaii Five-0") and Charlie Barnett. Derek Haas and Michael Brandt ("3:10 to Yuma") wrote the pilot and will produce the series with Danielle Gelber, Peter Jankowski and Jeffrey Nachmanoff, who directed the pilot.
NBC also picked up "Guys With Kids," the Jimmy Fallon-produced comedy about a group of 30-something friends who all are dads. Wolf got a double dose of good news Wednesday. NBC renewed his long-running "Law & Order: SVU" for a 14th season afrer this year's cast shakeup following the departure of Chris Meloni.
NBC had previously ordered:
- "1600 Penn," a comedy about a dysfunctional first family that is exec-produced by former Barack Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett.
- The drama "Revolution" from J.J. Abramsand "Supernatural"creator Eric Kripke. The apocalyptic sci-fi thriller shows a world in chaos after all technology mysteriously stops working. Billy Burke, Giancarlo Esposito and David Lyons star.
- "The New Normal" from "Glee"and "American Horror Story"creator Ryan Murphy. It's about a gay couple (Andrew Rannells and Justin Bartha) and the surrogate mother to their expanding family (Georgia King). The comedy features Ellen Barkin and NeNe Leakes.
- "Save Me," a comedy starring Anne Heche as a housewife who believes she is a prophet.
- "Go On," a comedy in which Matthew Perry plays a sportscaster who tries to move on from a loss by attending group therapy sessions.
- "Animal Practice," a comedy starring Justin Kirk ("Weeds") as a veterinarian who likes the animals he treats but not their owners. Tyler Labine ("Reaper," "Mad Love"), Amy Huberman and Bobby Lee ("MADtv") co-star.
