NBC and "Chicago Fire" are looking for a new canine guest star for the Chicago-filmed drama and have launched a nationwide contest in search of the perfect firehouse pooch.
The "Chicago Fire" Top Dog will make an appearance in the show and on NBC's "Today" show.
Firehouses across the country are encouraged to enter their canine colleagues by emailing submissions to ChicagoFire.TopDog@nbcuni.com. Include a photo and no more than 200 words on why their dog should be chosen. Also include the dog and owner's names, address, home phone number, firehouse number, firehouse phone number and e-mail address, with "Chicago Fire Top Dog Contest" written in the subject line.
Entries will be considered through Sept. 8. Official rules are posted at www.today.com/topdog.
"Chicago Fire" executive producers will review the applicants and choose the top three candidates. Those finalists will appear on "Today" on Sept. 24, when the public will vote at today.com to pick the winner. The winner will be announced Oct. 1 on "Today" or its web site.
"Chicago Fire" returns for its second season at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24.
