Former Chicago Bear Brad Culpepper and his "Survivor" alum wife, Monica, are two of 20 contestants battling for the $1 million prize when "Survivor" returns Sept. 18 on CBS.
Culpepper, 44, an attorney who retired from pro football after playing 12 games for the Bears in 2000, will compete with and eventually against 42-year-old Monica, who competed on "Survivor: One World" when it aired last year.
For its 27th season, sub-titled "Blood vs. Water," "Survivor" is putting former contestants together with their loved ones. But only one person can be crowned Sole Survivor, so they'll have to outwit even their partners.
"Blood vs. Water" will take place on Redemption Island, according to CBS. As the network says, the twist this season is that loved ones will be forced to choose whether to "save" their partner on Redemption Island and switch places with them, thus allowing their loved one to immediately re-enter the game, or leave them in exile to survive on their own.
The 90-minute season premiere airs at 7 p.m. CT Sept. 18 on CBS.
