Tonight, on a very special "Warehouse 13," Claudia Donovan and Steve Jinks reunite for a new mission.
Maybe I should back up a little (not unlike Artie did in the Season 4 opener when he backed everybody up about 24 hours). Spoiler alert, but Jinksy (Aaron Ashmore) is alive! Last week Claudia used the metronome artifact to reanimate his corpse, so the band is back together--for now.
According to Allison Scagliotti, who plays Claudia, the metronome storyline is far from over.
"What we're really exploring this year is the downside of artifacts," Scagliotti told me over the weekend at Lollapalooza (watch the videos in the player above). "We didn't know the downside of the metronome when we used it. Now that we have used it, that's what we have to discover. It affects Claudia and Jinks' relationship in a very symbiotic way is all I'm going to say. And it becomes very dangerous for both of them to figure out a way to right themselves before things get really complicated."
In "Personal Effects," airing at 8 p.m. Aug. 6 on Syfy, Claudia, Jinks, Myka, Pete, Artie and Leena search for six artifacts that were stolen from a safe house belonging to the late Walter Sykes. The thief, named Jesse (and played by Brian J. Smith, formerly of "Stargate Universe"), sold most of the artifacts, but keeps a dangerous weather-controlling artifact.
Scagliotti couldn't give away any specifics about the episode, or the season--except to say it will be jam-packed with excitement.
"The action kind of never stops this year," she said. "Of all the seasons we've done, this year is the hardest to talk about. The twist this year, I think, is more emotionally relevant and a little more surprising than we've ever done in the past."
More emotional than Claudia was in the first two episodes, when she was trying to revive Jinks? Apparently so. "I can't wait for fans to see [the twist]; I think it's going to leave people emotionally wrecked."
Scagliotti didn't confirm, but Artie's recurring daymare of Claudia stabbing him in the chest with that dagger could be part of that twist. "That scary vision that Artie has ... is important," she said, "and it is meant to be suspenseful up to about Episode 9."
One final tease from Scagliotti: "We have not seen the last of demonic Alice from Season 1."
Uh-oh. Step away from that mirror, Myka.
