In the midst of opening Ay Chiwowa, a new late-night taco and tequila bar, earlier this month, bar and restaurant group Rockit Ranch has temporarily closed two of its high-profile River North spots.
Six years after its opening, The Underground nightclub closed quietly to remodel and upgrade its interior. Rockit Ranch CEO Billy Dec said The Underground will likely remain closed until summer, but is keeping mum on exactly what changes are underway in the space.
While that was a planned closure, 10-month-old Dragon Ranch Moonshine & BBQ's abrupt closing was not. Following a Jan. 11 fire in its building, the Asian-leaning barbecue spot remains closed for repairs, though Dec says they are looking to reopen as quickly as possible.
Signs on the doors of both The Underground and Dragon Ranch direct people to Ay Chiwowa, where DJs, cocktails and tortas await until 4 a.m Thursday through Sunday.
