Shamrock shakedown: Mint milkshake taste test
The month of March means one thing for McDonald's junkies: Shamrock Shake season. We couldn't help but notice that the fast-food giant's popular green shake has quite a few doppelgangers around town. From a health-ified low-calorie variation to a boozy mint-chocolate version, we taste-tested the options at six independent restaurants.

Available until: March 31 Lettuce Entertain You's burger shops have made a ritual out of featuring a mint milkshake for the month of March, and this year is no different. Like the original McD's shake, it has that telltale white/green tie-dye effect of vanilla ice cream mixed with bright green mint syrup -- but it's much less cloying and smoother in texture. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that the chopped-up Andes mints sprinkled on top remind me of dinners at Olive Garden with my family as a kid. --Lisa Arnett |
