Your guide to Lagunitas' Chicago taproom
A by-the-numbers look at the huge new Douglas Park beer playground
Chicago city planner Daniel Burnham famously said, "Make no little plans." Lagunitas took that to heart. It was way back in April 2012 when the brewery's founder, Tony Magee, announced that the California-based brewery would expand to his hometown of Chicago with a massive new production brewery and taproom. Naturally, there was much rejoicing. And then there was much finger tapping. Two weeks ago, Lagunitas finally threw open the doors to its Douglas Park taproom, giving most people their first views of the beer-making operation. Even if you've heard that the brewery is housed in a former steel plant, it's difficult to imagine the scale of this factory.
