Sorry, mimosa fans, you can sit this one out. The city will welcome Chicago's Bloody Mary Competition, its first festival dedicated solely to a brunch cocktail, June 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Park West.
Guests can judge two-ounce samples from bars and restaurants including Fountainhead, Longman & Eagle, Riverview Tavern, Shoe's Pub, Three Aces, Stanley's Kitchen and Tap and nine others, then vote to crown a winner.
"This is meant to celebrate what Sunday Funday is, and the bloody mary's role in that," said Brian Ferber of Jam Productions, which will produce the event. "This is also about celebrating different neighborhoods in Chicago."
Aside from bloody mary samples, all made with sponsor Tito's Vodka, attendees can consider the competitors' display bloody mary, which will represent a full-sized drink in all its garnished glory.
Food, music and giveaways for Tito's swag and Jam concert tickets also are planned.
Tickets are $25 and are on sale now.
