After months of planning and form-filing, Begyle Brewing is just a few weeks away from having their beers sold in Chicago bars.

The Ravenswood-based brewery, run by friends Brendan Blume, Matt Ritchey and Kevin Cary, is planning to distribute using a Community Supported Agriculture-like model when they are granted their retail license. But for now, the team is busy brewing five varieties that they hope will roll out to Chicago bars around August 22. Begyle will also be serving their brews at the Oak Park Microbrew Review on Aug. 18.

"We plan to slowly roll out to a few accounts, possibly in North Center, Lincoln Square, Ravenswood and maybe Bucktown," Cary said.

Among the beers in the works are a hefeweizen called the Van Der Hefe, a brown IPA (what they're calling an American strong ale) dubbed Striped Elephant, a pale wheat ale called Crash Landing.

The team launched a Kickstarter campaign last week to help raise funds for a counter-pressure growler filler that they hope will help streamline the filling process when they begin to distribute. Those donating at various levels qualify for rewards including brewery tours, Begyle-branded socks, and reserved spaces for memberships in the community-supported subscription program when it launches.

"The campaign is going really well," Cary said. "We weren't sure what to expect, but we're looking to engage future customers who want to get in on the project early."
