Before you ask why the guy who starred in “Sex Tape” and went full frontal in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” wrote a children’s book, let me remind you that Jason Segel also wrote and starred in “The Muppets” and lent his voice to “Despicable Me.” Really, it’s not that far-fetched. And besides, if Sarah Silverman can voice one of the main characters in a kid’s movie (“Wreck-It Ralph”), anything is possible in children’s entertainment.
Segel will sign copies of his book “Nightmares!” Sept. 14 at Tivoli Theatre in Downers Grove. The book signing is presented by Anderson’s Bookshop and will include a Q&A with Segel and screening of “The Muppets.”
“Nightmares!” is the first book in a planned trilogy and revolves around 11-year-old Charlie Laird, whose nightmares begin to creep into his daily life. Charlie and his friends must fight off President Fear in order to keep the nightmares from taking over. The book was inspired by nightmares Segel had as a child.
