Chicago Children's Theatre to take up residence at the Ruth Page Theatre

The Chicago Children's Theatre is to stage its entire 2012-13 season at the Ruth Page Theatre on Chicago's Near North Side, the company announced Wednesday morning.

Shows slated for the new residency include a new musical version of the much-beloved "Harold and the Purple Crayon," directed by Sean Graney and opening in the fall; a dramatic version of the novel "Bud, Not Buddy," to be directed by Derrick Sanders for a January opening; and a new conceptual piece called "The Elephant and the Whale," produced in association with Redmoon Theatre and directed by Frank Magueri, with a script by Seth Bockley and a score by Kevin O'Donnell.

That last show, which is to feature sea shanties, clowning and puppetry, is slated to open at Ruth Page, 1016 N. Dearborn St.,  in April.
