The worst airline food

The worst airline food is served by carriers American Airlines, United Airlines and U.S. Airways, while travelers can find the best in-flight meals on such carriers as Singapore Airlines and Air France.

This comes to us not from the cover of Duh! magazine but by way of a recent survey by SeatGuru.com.

Those of us who fly the major U.S. carriers with some regularity can be forgiven for asking, "What in-flight meals? Those peanuts the attendant tossed in my lap? I'll have you know that mine were lovely!"

Face it: Your dog gets better snacks at a sidewalk-cafe brunch in Chicago than you can expect flying economy on most U.S. carriers.

Except, apparently, Continental Airlines. That was the sole U.S. carrier mentioned among the best in terms of airline food. I'm going to have to try Continental one of these days.

United, American and US Airways also were cited for having the least comfortable economy-class seats and the rudest flight attendants. Among the carriers with the most polite attendants was Southwest. Really? Some of those uber-efficient Southwest attendants remind me of drill sergeants.
