RedEye Best Bartender Contest 2012: Final 4
Still haven't had a chance to visit these folks at their home bars and try their signature cocktails? Don't worry, we've got you covered. Head to Moe's Cantina (155 W. Kinzie St.) on Feb. 22 for our annual Best Bartender Bash. There, you'll be able to sample the contestants' signature drinks, vote for your favorite and party until we announce our winner. Admission is free, but be sure to RSVP by noon on Feb. 22 at redeyechicago.com/rsvp.
Until then, get to know Nahm, Jenny, Jay and Monica and vote online at redeyechicago.com/bartender. Online voting counts for 20 percent of each bartender's overall score, along with 20 percent from judges and 60 percent from the audience on the night of the party.
Monica Dim/Public House
Drink: All I Do is Gin, made with ginger-infused gin, grapefruit, simple syrup, ginger beer and lemon juice.
Why she loves it: "Just like the song that gets stuck in everyone's head, this cocktail is designed to do the same, Monica says. It's not a one and done drink. Gin can be very intimidating to people ... but the ginger influence gives it a crisp finish."
Why she deserves your vote: "I've been bartender since I was old enough to hold a shaker," she says. "Well, I've been bartending since college. I'm friendly and fun, don¿t take myself too seriously and I serve up my drinks fast, fresh and with a smile."
