Talk to the Han: Dancing to 'Star Wars Kinect'
What would happen if "Star Wars" had fewer lightsaber battles and more dance-offs? "Star Wars Kinect," a new video game released this week for Xbox 360, finally answers that question. The game features a "Galactic Dance-Off" mode in which a player mimics the choreography of a character from the beloved sci-fi films as he or she busts a move to pop songs that have been reworked to include "Star Wars"-centric lyrics. A remix of Jason Derulo's "Ridin' Solo" is called "I'm Han Solo," while an animated Harrison Ford doppelganger frolics like an overexcited teenager on prom night. Some hard-core "Star Wars" fans have taken to the Internet to complain that watching Stormtroopers gyrate to a Village People cover is "ruining their childhood," but are the nerds overreacting? RedEye investigates.

"I'm Han Solo"
Sung in the style of "Ridin' Solo" by Jason Derulo
SCENE: Cloud City has inexplicably turned into a hot nightclub with a DJ. After Han Solo escapes from his carbonite prison, he takes to the dance floor with Empire officers while a dashing Lando Calrissian eventually butts in and takes the spotlight LYRICS: "I'm picking up my blaster/ put it on my side/ I'm jumpin in my Falcon/ Wookie at my side/ I'm solo, I'm Han Solo, I'm Han Solo" SAMPLE DANCE MOVE: The Chewie Hug VERDICT: Lando and Han are the coolest cats in the "Star Wars" universe and have the moxie to pull this routine off. Plus, the Derulo cover is incredibly catchy. |
