Top 30 January concerts

January is traditionally a slow month for concerts in Chicago. After all, what band wants to schedule a Midwestern tour at the height of winter's fury? That said, there are a number of shows that should excite local music fans, including an appearance by the newly reunited Soundgarden and former Girls frontman Christopher Owens, who makes his first solo appearance following the indie duo's breakup. In addition, the annual Tomorrow Never Knows Festival brings an assortment of up-and-comers (Merchandise, Niki & the Dove, etc.) to a variety of venues beginning in the middle of the month. --Andy Downing for RedEye
