Yessssssssss! Honestly, that's all that needs to be said. This song kicks so much butt.
Monae hasn't released an album since 2010's "The ArchAndroid," and she's due to drop "The Electric Lady" sometime this year. She's, like, really, really overdue. And if the rest of the album sounds anything like "Q.U.E.E.N.", it should win every Grammy.
If you've only heard of Monae because she guested on fun.'s "We Are Young," you're in for a pretty huge surprise--and probably aren't prepared for the creativity that's about the blast your brain open. She's always experimented with sounds and genre, and this time she's jumping on the funk machine. "Q.U.E.E.N." would be more than happy on the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack, if "Saturday Night Fever" were remade with a quasi-modern sassy heroine who has no time for trouble and whose booty don't lie.
The word "bombastic" was practically invented for this track, and it's going to be my dance-off theme of the summer.
