Chi-Tunes: Color Card

Chicago rockers Color Card answered our Chi-Tunes questionnaire. Do the same and your band could appear in RedEye!

What makes your live show great?

All three of us play multiple instruments, so we fill up the sound really well. We see our recordings and live performances as separate entities, but we are writing in a direction that closes the gap between the two.

Describe your sound in five words or less.

Experimental, textured.

Tell us something random about the band, and why that's significant.

Our lineup has shuffled around alot--not our members, but the instruments each of us play. Recently we've been sticking to more concrete roles, which has helped define our sound.

Who would you want to work with, and who would you never work with? Why?

Sufjan Stevens, for sure. He's prolific and his live act is incredible. He also crafts songs asymmetrically, which we like to do as well.

We would never work with Rob Thomas. You know why.

If the band was a breakfast cereal, what would it be and why?

Oatmeal. Because it's warm.

What's the best album you've heard recently?

"Gauntlet Hair" by Gauntlet Hair

What song do you never want to hear again?

"Video Games" by Lana Del Rey

What is Chicago's best music venue and why?

The Empty Bottle has always treated us well, and is the best sounding place we've played at so far.
