Chicago hard rockers Arriver answered our Chi-Tunes questionnaire. Do the same and your band could appear in RedEye!
What makes your live show great?
It's energetic, but no bull. There's variety and pacing, but it's always full-on and hard-rocking. We employ top-notch musicianship that serves the songs rather than chasing our tails.
Describe your sound in five words or less.
Arty Heavy Metal History Rock
Tell us something random about the band, and why that's significant.
ARRIVER makes concept albums. The most recent, "TSUSHIMA," retells a story of the Russo-Japanese Naval war of 1904-1905.
Who would you want to work with, and who would you never work with? Why?
ARRIVER will probably work with Sanford Parker on our next album. ARRIVER will never work with Rabid Rabbit. Except that I also play in Rabid Rabbit. And in fact we are sharing the bill at the Burlington on March 30. But other than that, never ever again.
If the band was a breakfast cereal, what would it be and why?
Grapenuts. Tough but satisfying. Tasty in unconventional way. Substantial and ultimately good for you.
What's the best album you've heard recently?
YOB's 2011 release "ATMA."
What song do you never want to hear again?
I love this town, but "Sweet Home Chicago"...uggh.
What is Chicago's best music venue and why?
Depends what I want to see and what kind of music I am playing. Diplomatically for ARRIVER I would declare a three-way tie of the Hideout, Cobra Lounge, and the Empty Bottle.
