Occidental Brothers Dance Band International: The multi-racial Chicago band specializes in West African highlife music, which should be a perfect way to experience Old Town’s new, dance-oriented performance space in the Myron R. Szold Music and Dance Hall, 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Old Town School of Folk Music, 4545 N. Lincoln Ave., $10; oldtownschool.org.
The Life and Times: From Kansas City, Mo., this trio tucks dreamy melodies inside curtains of guitar haze and drone.
