Miguel Zenon, a MacArthur "genius grant" winner and one of the most admired young musicians in jazz, will headline the 6th annual Hyde Park Jazz Festival, a free event running Sept. 29 and 30 in various Hyde Park locations.
Zenon will play a rare solo show 10:45 p.m. Sept. 29 at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, 5850 S. Woodlawn Ave.
Other artists at this year's event: vocalists Tammy McCann and Dee Alexander; vibist Jason Adasiewicz; drummer Dana Hall; trombonist Wycliffe Gordon; saxophonists Greg Ward, Mwata Bowden, Eric Schneider, Ernest Dawkins and Ari Brown; cellist Tomeka Reid; violinist Zach Brock; and trumpeters Pharez Whitted, Bobby Lewis and Victor Garcia.
The festival will unfold on 17 stages in 13 venues, with two outdoors stages and a dance floor on the Midway Plaisance.
