Jon Stewart calls pizza truce after Malnati visits 'The Daily Show'
The debate over which city has the best pizza will likely go on, but Jon Stewart has officially called a truce between Chicago and New York.
Stewart brought an end to the pizza feud he started last week on "The Daily Show" Wednesday night, trying a piece of Chicago deep dish pizza personally delivered by Marc Malnati of Lou Malnati's.
"This is for Chicago, I have great friends there, it's a beautiful city," Stewart said before he took a bite of the pizza in front of him.
Malnati, owner of the Chicago pizza franchise, got booed by the audience when he put the plate in front of Stewart with a fork and knife, but in the end, Stewart said he apologized and declared the pizza "very tasty."
Lou Malnati's posted a video on YouTube Monday, showing Marc Malnati tasting some traditional New York style pizza and offering to personally deliver a pizza to Stewart.
Giordano's also joined the debate, posting this video last week.
Of course the ultimate response came from the mayor's office. Rahm Emanuel sent two deep dish pizzas topped with anchovies to the show along with a note that read, "Jon, deep dish with dead fish."
