Big Hurt Beer at U.S. Cellular Field? It could happen, or at least White Sox legend Frank Thomas thinks so. The Big Hurt said his new beer, which launched in the fall, could be available at the South Side ballpark as soon as this season.
“We’re working on it,” said Thomas while promoting his beer at Public House Friday. “Even if it’s just a kiosk by (my) statue.”
Thomas said Big Hurt Beer is currently available at local Binny’s and should be available in certain bars in the Chicago area in the spring. You can also expect to see commercials for the beer around that time.
Thomas said he is by no means a beer expert, but he does consider himself “very picky” about his brews. And while he seems more interested in enjoying beers these days rather than pounding them, he admitted that wasn’t always the case.
“In my day, I could put down a lot of beers,” Thomas said, smiling. “There were a lot of four-for-four days but also a lot of o-for-four days — know what I’m saying? On those (o-for-four) days, I needed help to go to sleep.”
And what is Thomas’ personal cure for a hangover? “Sleep and water.” Thomas said.
