Now trending: Chokers

Being a preteen girl in the '90s meant owning a collection of chokers that simultaneously complimented your butterfly clips, tube tops and hot pink braces. Whether you owned the velvet ribbon variety or the kind that stretched around your neck and looked like a black tribal tattoo, it was an unavoidable trend that rocked any Spice Girls-loving adolescent. Good and bad news: Chokers are back. This time, they're taking a more sophisticated, refined approach. To avoid looking like you just walked off the set of "Clueless," shop for chokers that rest on the top of your collarbone. Pair a slender metal collar with a patterned blouse or add a gem-encrusted choker to an LBD for a look you never thought possible post-1998. For inspiration, study up on how these celebs -- everyone from Rihanna to Man Repeller author Leandra Medine -- are working the choker trend.
