Elliott Serrano, For RedEye

As the writer of the ongoing "Army of Darkness" comic-book series, I'm always interested in anything that has to do with the "Evil Dead." For those who aren't familiar, the Evil Dead films were first spearheaded by the duo of Sam Raimi (Spider-man, Drag Me To Hell) and Bruce Campbell (Burn Notice) and are credited for launching the Michigan natives into Hollywood stardom. The series consists of three chapters: Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn and Army of Darkness. (I became a fan of the series myself when I first saw Army of Darkness and was taken by the mix of horror, action and comedy.)
Today, thanks to my good friends at Evil Dead News, I came across this charming animated tribute to the cult-classic series created by Daniel M. Kanemoto of ExMortisFilms.com.
Daniel explains why he created the animated short on his YouTube page:
"This is my cinematic love letter to three influential movies that made me want to be a filmmaker: EVIL DEAD, EVIL DEAD 2, and ARMY OF DARKNESS."
"I created all the artwork in the sequence, but the final image is directly inspired by an incredible EVIL DEAD poster created by Olly Moss. The moment I saw it, I only wanted to see it move -- which is how I feel about all great posters. The new wave of artists working with Mondo have made movie posters worth collecting again, and that's a great thing. I hope to someday join their ranks."
I'm looking forward to seeing more from this talented filmmaker!
