Advice: Do wedding dates freak guys out?

How long do you have to be dating someone before you can invite them to be your plus-one at a wedding? I've been on half-a-dozen dates with a guy, but we've known each other for over a year. I have three weddings this summer, and don't want to go solo, since most of my friends are in relationships. But, I also don't want this guy to think I'm getting too serious, too quick. I'm into him, but I'm definitely not ready to walk down the aisle with him or anything. Do wedding dates freak guys out?
