Top weekend shows: Shellac, Lindsey Buckingham

Shellac: Steve Albini, Bob Weston and Todd Trainer have been making music together for 20 years. They’re working on a fifth studio album, so expect some new songs, as well as an array of top-notch musical guests at this three-night residency, including a rare sighting by erstwhile Chicago noise-rock terrorists Tar on Sunday, 9 p.m. Friday-Sunday at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Avenue, $16; lincolnhallchicago.com.

Lindsey Buckingham: Another Fleetwood Mac album and tour appears inevitable, but meanwhile that band’s de facto creative director has had a second life as an idiosyncratic and adventurous solo artist, 8 p.m. Sunday-Monday at  City Winery, 1200 W. Randolph St.,  $80; citywinery.com.
