“Man of Steel” isn’t scheduled to hit theaters until June 14, 2013, but the city of Plano doesn’t want to wait that long to capitalize on the Superman reboot that filmed last August in the Western suburb’s downtown area.
Plano will host Smallville Superfest — a Superman-inspired outdoor festival that will include a parade and live music — Aug. 17-19 (smallvillesuperfest.com). Plano has yet to take down some of the signs and décor from filming and also held on to a few props, including pumps from the fake 7-Eleven gas station and signs from the Smallville bank.
According to Plano Mayor Bob Hausler, the city has reached out to getWarner Bros.involved in the festival in some capacity but nothing has been confirmed.
