Jenny McCarthy is a bit of a talker, so it would only make sense that the former “Singled Out” host and frequent “Oprah Winfrey Show” guest would be next in line for her own talk show. “The Jenny McCarthy Show” is set to air on VH1 early next year and will have a “Playboy After Dark” feel, according to the Evergreen Park native.
“I’ve been in this business for almost 20 years,” said McCarthy, who is featured on the cover of the September issue of Michigan Avenue magazine and hosted the magazine’s party last Tuesday at Untitled. “The acting route was fun, but it didn’t capture who I am. I have fun being myself and am really good on talk shows, so I thought, ‘Why not do one?’ I decided to do late-night because it captures more of my dirty self and honest self.”
McCarthy likely would have entered the talk show genre sooner but needed to wait for her development deal with Winfrey’s Harpo Productions to end. The VH1 talk show, which will feature the former Playboy Playmate interviewing celebrities and talking pop culture news, will air weekly at first. If it is such a hit that VH1 decides to make it a nightly series, McCarthy, who moved back to the Chicago area this summer, said she would want to bring the show with her.
(The taping locale hasn’t been decided yet.)
“Now that I live here,” McCarthy said, “I told them I (would) only do the show in a nightly form in Chicago.”
McCarthy has become a regular on the Chicago night-life scene since the move. She dined with friends Thursday at Chicago Cut Steakhouse and hung out Saturday at Paris Club’s upstairs club, Studio Paris. Also at Studio Paris that night, separately, was ex-boyfriend and Bears star Brian Urlacher.
