Aimee Garcia and Michael Jordan go way back.
Garcia, who played nanny Jaime Batista on Showtime’s “Dexter” and can be seen in the upcoming “Robocop” remake in Feb., filmed a McDonald’s commercial with the NBA legend when she was in 7th grade.
In the commercial, a group of kids eating at McDonald's, including Garcia, debate whether it's Jordan sitting next to their table. Garcia insists "It's not him" and continues to have her doubts even after he joins them at their table.
“It was hours of sitting in silence and all I could think about was ‘I’m sitting in silence with a real, hardcore living legend and have no idea what to say to him,” said Garcia, 34, over the phone. “It was a very surreal experience. He’s such a doll. I remember him loving the strawberry milkshake. He was really sweet, but he wanted to get on a plane and go golf after hour seven.”
This wasn’t Garcia’s only time filming a McDonald’s commercial with a Chicago sports legend. The Fenwick High School alum also appeared in a commercial with former Cub Sammy Sosa.
“He was a larger than life personality – very charismatic,” Garcia said of Sosa. “I’m half Puerto Rican and my grandfather was in the Puerto Rican Hall of Fame. I told (Sosa) that and he got really excited. I spoke Spanish with him. It was cool.”
